Terms of Service
These terms cover your use of the Career Engineer browser extension and website. By installing the extension or buying a subscription, you agree to them.
1. What the service does
Career Engineer fills job application forms from a profile you create, and can generate resumes, cover letters, and draft answers to application questions based on that profile and the posting you are applying to.
2. You review before you submit
The extension deliberately stops at an application's review page and never presses a final submit, apply, or finish button. That is a safety property, not a limitation.
You are responsible for every application you send. Automated form filling can mis-match a field, and generated text can be wrong or poorly suited to a role. Read the form before you submit it. We are not responsible for an application that was submitted with incorrect, incomplete, or unsuitable content.
3. Accuracy of what you provide
Generated documents are built from the background you enter. The system is designed not to invent employers, job titles, dates, schools, or qualifications — anything it writes about your history should trace back to something you told it. But it cannot verify that what you told it is true. Misrepresenting your qualifications to an employer is your responsibility and may have consequences for you under the employer's own rules or applicable law.
4. Acceptable use
Do not:
- Use the service to submit applications you have no genuine interest in, at volume, in a way that burdens employers or their systems.
- Attempt to bypass usage limits, authentication, or billing.
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the service or its output as your own product.
- Use it to impersonate another person.
- Reverse engineer the service except as permitted by law.
We may suspend an account that does these things.
5. Outreach messages
If you use features that draft networking or outreach messages, you send them yourself from your own email or social account. We never send messages on your behalf. That means compliance with laws covering unsolicited commercial messages — including the US CAN-SPAM Act and, for recipients in the EEA and UK, the GDPR and related rules — is your responsibility as the sender. Do not use drafted messages for bulk unsolicited mail.
6. Plans, billing, and renewal
- The paid plan is sold as a three-month term and renews automatically every three months until you cancel. We email you before each renewal.
- Payments are processed by Paddle, which acts as merchant of record. Paddle's terms also apply to the transaction, and applicable sales tax or VAT is handled by Paddle.
- You can cancel at any time from the customer portal or by emailing us. Cancelling stops future renewals; your access continues to the end of the term you have paid for.
- Refunds: we offer a full refund within 14 days of a charge, no questions asked. Email support@careerengineer.app.
- Free trial: trials require a payment method and convert into a paid term at the end unless cancelled first. Trials carry a capped number of generations.
- Student pricing requires a valid
.eduemail address and is for individual students. We may end a discount if it was obtained with an address you are not entitled to use. - Bring your own key: if you take the discount for supplying your own AI provider key, usage on that key is billed to you by that provider, under their terms. We are not responsible for charges on your own account.
7. Usage limits
Free and paid plans carry usage allowances, described on our pricing page. We may change allowances with notice. "Unlimited" items are subject to fair use: we may contact you about usage that is wildly inconsistent with individual job seeking.
8. Third-party sites
The extension operates on job application sites run by other companies. We are not affiliated with those employers or applicant tracking systems, and their sites change without warning. We cannot guarantee the extension works on any particular site, or keeps working after a site is redesigned.
9. No employment outcome is promised
Career Engineer is a tool for filling out applications faster and writing better drafts. It does not promise interviews, offers, or employment of any kind.
10. Availability
We aim to keep the service running but do not promise uninterrupted availability. Features may change, and we may discontinue the service — if we do, we will give notice and refund any unused portion of a paid term.
11. Your content
You keep ownership of the information you enter and the documents you generate. You grant us only the permission needed to operate the service for you — processing your request to produce a document, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not claim rights over your resume and do not use your content to train AI models.
12. Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
13. Termination
You may stop using the service and uninstall the extension at any time. We may suspend or end your access for a breach of these terms, and will refund any unused portion of a paid term unless the breach involved fraud or abuse.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material, we will notify you before it takes effect and, if you do not accept it, you may cancel and receive a refund of the unused portion of your term.
